Book cover Design

The Mind, written by Gloria Foster, is a project we worked on to redesign her book cover that better captivates the mysteriousness and figurative aspects of the protagonist, Sheila. The visuals are less of a literal design but more figurative in using a silhouette illustration to capture her strength, accentuate her hair and yellow dotting details to create the illusion of her obtaining auditory hallucinations, which she experiences in The Mind. We continue our dotting motif further in the secondary font, for the author's name, to tie into our design. The color palette consists of bold, deep, rich and contrasting colors such as indigo purple and dandelion yellow with a bold title font to pair. Before reading, our book cover crafts the questions, what about the mind haunts Sheila?
